 Joseph Decosimo and Company, LLC recently named Vic Merkel as Tax Director in its Atlanta office.
Vic Merkel, a Certified Public Accountant since 1993, came to Decosimo with more than 16 years experience in both public accounting and private industry. Prior to joining the firm, he served as the Tax Director for a national restaurant chain and as a Senior Tax Manager with an international accounting firm.

Mr. Merkel’s extensive tax planning and compliance experience includes multi-state tax planning, tax reporting for financial statement purposes, tax incentives, and transactional tax planning and compliance. He brings valuable experience in the Mergers and Acquisitions process providing essential tax planning and due diligence components. Mr. Merkel’s history also includes experience in the retail, manufacturing and real estate industries.
Mr. Merkel obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and his Master of Accounting degree (Tax) from Auburn University.
Mr. Merkel is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and is active in civic, corporate and community organizations.
