Search Security, an information technology security publication, recently interviewed Decosimo’s I.T. Director Brian D. Joyce about Microsoft’s newest service pack for servers, Windows Server 2003 SP2.
According to the article, this new service pack containing some non-critical security and stability updates was released without much prior notification and around the same time that daylight-savings time glitches were being fixed—leaving many IT pros with little opportunity to test or consider implementing the new updates.
Decosimo’s IT Director, Brian D. Joyce, explained that the firm is using caution and, because of the lack of critical updates, will wait till after tax season before testing and installing the new service pack.
"We haven't bothered to test it yet and won't install it until after April 15," said Brian Joyce. "It would be way too risky and unnecessary, even if tested, to install it now."
