Decosimo CPA Elected President of Area Chapter of CFEs
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), established in 1988 and based in Austin, Texas, is an international, 36,000-member professional organization dedicated to fighting fraud and white-collar crime. The Chattanooga Area Chapter is one of more than 100 chapters located around the world. The Chattanooga Area Chapter includes Certified Fraud Examiners and Associate Members from the Southeast Tennessee, North Georgia and North Alabama areas. Chapter meetings are held monthly and are open to the public. The primary mission of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime and to assist the Membership in its detection and deterrence. As the local representative of the ACFE, the Chattanooga Area Chapter supports this mission by:
CFEs gather evidence, take statements, write reports, and assist in investigating fraud in its varied forms. CFEs are employed by most major corporations and government agencies, and others provide consulting and investigative services. Certified Fraud Examiners come from various professions, including auditors, accountants, fraud investigators, loss prevention specialists, attorneys, educators, and criminologists.
