Charles Hendry, managing principal of Dalton’s only regional accounting firm, recounts his career serving the Dalton community and begins plans for succession.
DALTON, GA (February 7, 2008)—Forty years ago, Charles W. Hendry established his accounting practice and introduced himself to Dalton’s growing business community. Today, he is the Managing Principal of the north Georgia office of Joseph Decosimo and Company, LLC (formerly Hendry & Decosimo). He stands at the helm of Dalton’s only regional accounting firm, and is a trusted advisor to the leaders of many of Dalton’s most successful companies.
A Georgia native and graduate of both the University of Georgia and the University of Florida, Mr. Hendry began his accounting career in Dalton in 1968. He was a cofounder of Hendry & Bailey, PC and merged his practice with Chattanooga-based Joseph Decosimo and Company, PLLC (Decosimo) in 1988. Today, the Dalton office of Decosimo provides the resources and expertise of one the Top 100 public accounting firms in the country, while maintaining the close personal relationships Dalton business owners have come to expect.
“Joining my local practice with Decosimo—which has since grown to be a leading regional firm—proved to be a good move for me, but an even better move for my clients,” said Charles W. Hendry, CPA. “Our regional firm combines depth of resources and expertise with the local responsiveness and service that individuals and middle-market businesses in the North Georgia area deserve, without the fees of a Big Four firm.”
Mr. Hendry provides audit, tax and management assistance services to clients within all areas of the textile industry and is equally experienced with medical practices, estates and trusts.
Mr. Hendry will continue serving clients from the Dalton office for years to come, but will slowly transition some of the office administration to a new generation. “As I near retirement, it is important that I leave my valued clients in capable hands,” said Hendry. “Allen Bentley was recently named a Principal in the firm and he will begin to take on some of the management functions of our office. Together we will make sure that the transition will be seamless to our clients.”
Allen Bentley, CPA, was one of the first hires that Mr. Hendry made following his practice’s merger with Decosimo. Mr. Bentley spent 13 years practicing primarily in corporate and individual taxation before leaving the firm for a few years to run a family business. He rejoined Decosimo in July 2006.
