Decosimo's Mike Costello to Discuss Healthcare Fraud at HFMA Dixie Institute
(February 17, 2012)–Principal Mike Costello, CPA, ABV, ASA, CFE,CFF, of Decosimo, a Top 100 accounting and business advisory firm, will present “Health Care Fraud Case Studies: How Health Care Fraud Occurs and How to Prevent and Detect It” at the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) 2012 Dixie Institute in Greensboro, Georgia, February 21-24. “The National Health Care Audi-Fraud Association estimates that three to 10 percent of all healthcare spending is fraudulent,” said Mike Costello. “The Decosimo Advisory Services team has been actively involved in preventing and detecting all types of fraud, particularly in healthcare related organizations. He has been retained in healthcare litigation involving a physician practice breakup, a breach of contract case involving a hospital chain, a wrongful termination suit involving a hospital, an economic damages case involving a lease of an image-guided radiotherapy system and a breach of contract case involving a home health agency. Mr. Costello has served on the board of an area hospital for nine years, and on the board of an entity that owns and operates multiple physician practices for over five years. He also has been appointed by the Hamilton County Chancery Court to manage and sell a medical practice as a custodian/receiver.
