John Henegar is Decosimo's Firm Tax Director. He focuses on federal and state taxation for businesses and individuals. Prior to joining Decosimo, John served 12 years as an Internal Revenue Service field agent, and 12 as a corporate controller of a construction firm.

John works with a wide variety of businesses and high-net-worth individuals. Industries served include construction, real estate development, rental and leasing, hospitality services, wholesale, retail and technology.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and its tax section, as well as a member, past director and past treasurer of the Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). He also has memberships with the Institute of Management Accountants and Chattanooga Tax Practitioners.

John is a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga. He is a current board member of the Public School Bible Study Committee, First Things First and Chattanooga Chapter of American Red Cross. Past board memberships include Chattanooga Christian School, Chattanooga Goodwill Industries, Inc. and Community Reconciliation, Inc.

John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Tennessee and a certified management accountant.
